PD: Allyship for Individuals with Disabilities

Students, faculty, and staff with disabilities are valued and affirmed individuals who contribute to and participate in the diversity at Texas State University and our global community. The purpose of this professional development is to promote awareness around ableism and support individuals with disabilities. Completion of this training counts toward the Diversity and Inclusion Certificate Program.

Healing Our Attachment Styles

Attachment styles are an important aspect of how we view ourselves and others in relationships. This webinar will briefly explore different attachment styles and how they provide a framework for understanding our emotional needs and communication styles in relationships. Healthy emotional coping and communication styles to support healthy relationship functioning will also be covered.

PD: Electronic and Information Resources Accessibility

1-4 p.m. | Office of Disability Services

Students, faculty, and staff are attempting to navigate a virtual environment unlike anything before. To that end, the Office of Disability Services and the Division of Information Technology is committed to making sure that the virtual environment is accessible. In this workshop, you will discuss examples of inaccessibility at universities and the benefits of practicing Universal Design. Participants will learn about accessibility laws and guidelines and utilize Universal design principles as they relate to components of digital content. In the end participants will have an understanding of features and guidelines that promote engagement regardless of disability status.

"Wait...What?" Recognizing and Challenging the Manipulation Tactic of Gaslighting

3-4 p.m. | Counseling Center

The manipulation tactic of gaslighting has been used to undermine one’s perceptions, judgments, emotions/reactions, and reality, which often influences one to feel confused and to question their sanity. This webinar will provide participants with information on recognizing signs of gaslighting, as well as strategies to challenge the behavior.
