The Welcome Bobcats Calling Program greets new freshmen and transfers students, and inquires if they have initial concerns. The two main objectives of the program are: 1. to welcome new students and let them know we appreciate them choosing Texas State, and 2. to answer questions about academic services, opportunities to get involved with campus programs and student organizations, and adjustment issues.

 

Each volunteer caller will be provided a script to follow when talking with the students. If a student is not available, then the caller will select the option of sending an email to the student instead. Callers will be provided web-based resources and also have the ability to ask for assistance from the VPSA Office through the comment area. Callers will receive the students’ information through a web-based system. Welcome calls are made during the second thru fifth week of each semester.
