Visiting Scholars

In order to foster an active and dynamic culture of learning, the university regularly invites researchers, artists, writers and scholars to share their unique talents and abilities with the campus community. Through programs such as the Mitte Chair in Creative Writing, the Southwest Writers Collection and the Lindsey Literary Series, nationally known writers read and discuss their works and consult with students and faculty. The department of Biology and the department of Chemistry and Biochemistry sponsor open seminars, inviting experts from across the country to discuss research and current topics of interest in their respective disciplines. The department of Mathematics hosts visiting faculty each semester who discuss their research and professional interests with faculty and students at math colloquiums. The Student Affairs Student Success Team wants you to be aware of the vibrant intellectual climate at Texas State and sponsors this web site in order to highlight such scholarly activities.
