Hiring Process Checklist
Request to Fill a Position form completed, including posting information.
Appoint Search Committee, which develops the criteria on which the applications will be evaluated.
When contacted by Human Resources Office, obtain applications and Applicant Log.
Search Committee reviews applications.
Schedule interviews.
Interview and determine most qualified candidate for the position, make recommendation to supervising dean/director, VP, or other final authority.
Fill out Applicant Log, interview sheets and employment verification sheet, then
____send to VP for approval
____forward to Affirmative Action Officer for hiring approval
____forward to Human Resources for approval
____forward to Budgeting for approval
Extend offer to candidate. Upon acceptance, complete IBC, preferably so that it is "on the system" when the employee arrives at work on the first day, which should be a Monday in order for the employee to participate in New Employee Orientation.
Complete employment paperwork:
____fill out W-4 form
____fill out I-9 form (must have proof of eligibility within 3 days of hire)
____Benefit Replacement form
____Employment Information
____copy of Article V. General Provision Senate Bill and Notice to Texas State Employees of Worker's Compensation and Employee Rights and Responsibilities Under Laws.
Review office procedures, timekeeping procedures, and other pertinent procedures with new employee.
Assure that letter of welcome from VPSA is sent.
Assure that the candidate attends New Employee Orientation, Sexual Harassment training, and Equal Employment Opportunity training.
