New Student Programs

 

  • New Student Orientation (NSO)
    NSO is the required first component of new student orientation for all new students. The program provides information on class registration, financial aid, academic advising, housing, and much more.
  • PAWS Preview
    PAWS Preview is the required second component of new student orientation for freshmen and freshmen-transfers. This kick-off program will introduce you to the programs, services, activities, people and traditions at Texas State.

Special Note- If you're an entering freshman with 0-29 credit hours, you're required to attend both New Student Orientation and the PAWS Preview program.

 

FINANCIAL AID

Money Management

  • National Loan Data System
    The U.S. Department of Education's central database for student aid. You can use the web site to make inquiries about your Title IV loans and/or Pell grants.  The site displays information on loan and/or grant amounts, outstanding balances, loan statuses, and disbursements.   
  • Pre-Loan Counseling
    First-time borrowers at Texas State must complete pre-loan counseling prior to the disbursement of loan funds. Check this site for information about meeting this requirement through live sessions, watching a video, or completing an on-line session.
