Emerging Stars giving back with Habitat for Humanity

The purpose of the Service Project is to give students an opportunity to foster a relationship of service within the city in which they will be living.  Half of the participating Emerging Stars volunteered at Goodwill and the other half worked on the Habitat for Humanity house.  As stated in the Texas State "Shared Values", the University makes a commitment to public service. This opportunity illustrates the importance of service and contributions to the community. Future plans include adding a service-learning component to the program that will have lasting effects throughout the students' college careers.
